Meet Better Discourse

David Sandson is a national security policy professional and twenty-year Navy veteran, with service worldwide in significant and varied roles across defense operations, management, and analysis. David previously served in the Pentagon at the Office of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security, and Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force.

In August 2025, David completed his diplomatic assignment to the U.S. Mission to NATO where he represented the United States in NATO’s Resilience Committee, a senior committee reporting directly to the North Atlantic Council. He advised the Ambassador and senior staff on resilience and civil preparedness matters while formulating, coordinating, and implementing related policy at NATO.

David received his bachelor’s from the University of Maryland at College Park and his master’s from Syracuse University. He studied the online information environment as a Fulbright Scholar, Bulgaria Award. He is married with two children and lives in Northern Virginia.
